Emergency crews were on the scene of a crash in Chapel Hill early Friday morning, where scanner traffic indicated an individual was transported to UNC Hospitals.

Police are still investigating the incident as of last update and have no official statement at the time of this posting.

Emergency communications reported that a crash occurred at the intersection of Westminster and Banks drives in northern Chapel Hill behind the Timberlyne Shopping Center around 8 a.m. Friday.

Witnesses said it appeared a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and reported that the vehicle windshield looked as though it had been hit by a large object and had a spiderweb pattern from the break.

There is no word on the status of the injured individual. Emergency officials indicated on radio traffic that CPR was being performed and a pulse was regained before the individual was transported to the hospital.
