The man who was the subject of a Silver Alert was found dead in Orange County.
Authorities said in an update Monday evening that the body of a male matching the description of 91-year-old Nathaniel Brookins was found in a field off Lawrence Road in Hillsborough. A release from the sheriff’s office initially described Brookins as being in the early stages of dementia.
“The investigation is ongoing as to the cause of death.”
Authorities said that Brookins was visiting the area and was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Friday at 1011 Lawrence Road in Hillsborough. Officials said it was believed that Brookins may have been attempting to make his way home to Mississippi.
