****UPDATE: Orange County officials said Monday evening that the body of a male matching the description of Brookins had been found in a field near where he was last seen.****
A Silver Alert has been issued as the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 91-year-old man.
Officials said late Friday that the sheriff’s office “is concerned about and searching for” Nathaniel Brookins, who authorities said was “in the early stages of dementia.”
Authorities said that Brookins was visiting the area and was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Friday at 1011 Lawrence Road in Hillsborough.
“He was visiting this area with family and they believe he was motivated to make his way home to Mississippi,” officials said in an update Sunday. “Deputies do not believe he is still near the area where he was staying.”
Brookins is described as a black male, who is balding and has gray hair. Officials said he was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants and no socks.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Brookins is asked to call 911.
