A pedestrian was struck in Chapel Hill on Thursday evening.

Chapel Hill Police were on the scene just after 7 p.m. and authorities confirmed a pedestrian had been struck near the Wells Fargo at the corner of Willow Drive and Estes Drive.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing against traffic when they were struck. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

This is the third documented time that a pedestrian has been struck in Chapel Hill in 2018. The first two occurrences were on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and resulted in pedestrians being killed, including one this past Sunday.

Chapel Hill Police said earlier in the week that authorities were working to expand traffic safety measures.
