The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that injured two people in Hillsborough on Saturday night.

A release from the office said deputies responded to Fairview Park at 7 p.m. after receiving a report of gunfire. In the parking lot of the park, which is located off Torain Street in the Fairview neighborhood, they found two people suffering gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office said one of the victim is a juvenile.

Emergency medical personnel treated the victims on scene and determined both had non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to Duke University Hospital for further treatment and evaluation, according to the sheriff’s office, but are expected to recover from the wounds.

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told Chapelboro on Monday that investigators believe the shooting to be an isolated incident and there is “no continuing danger to the public at large.”

In its release on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said “at least one white vehicle fled the area” after the shooting. No suspect information was shared — but investigators asked anyone who may have information about the shooting at Fairview Park to call Investigator Borland at 919-245-2915.

No further information is publicly available as of Saturday night, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
