A man died in Mebane after being struck by a tractor-trailer at a loading dock at ABB, Inc.
Orange County authorities reported that 50-year-old Eugene Early McDowell IV, from Eden, NC, backed his truck into the loading dock at ABB, Inc. and exited his vehicle. Another truck struck him as it backed into the bay next to him.
Deputies and investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, along withe emergency responsers from the Mebane Fire Department and Orange County EMS, responded to the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Despite receiving CPR and other medical interventions, McDowell died at the scene. The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
ABB, Inc., a multinational technology firm based in Switzerland and Sweden, announced its intentions to expand to Orange County in 2019.
