The Hillsborough Police Department is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to raise impaired driving awareness.

The department has set a fundraising goal of $3,000 for MADD and are urging citizens to donate or sign up for Raleigh’s “Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash” on June 2 in Garner.

Participants will be registered to walk or run either virtually or in person after a $30 registration fee. All proceeds go to MADD.

Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens says this kind of thing is nothing new for the Hillsborough Police Department.

“I don’t know when they’re not fundraising,” said Stevens. “It really is part and parcel of this community outreach that they’re doing.”

The department also held a 5K run to help raise money for the Special Olympics in 2016.
