A shooting in a Chapel Hill neighborhood in the early hours of Friday morning left one person injured, according to police.
The Chapel Hill Police Department shared a release saying officers responded to Glen Lennox Apartments on Maxwell Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they found one person with non-life-threatening injuries from a shooting.
The department’s release said the incident does not appear to be random. Police are continuing their investigation, but WRAL reports officers at the scene on Friday said there is no expected threat to the public’s safety.
Anyone who was in the area and has more information on Friday morning’s shooting are encouraged to call 911, said the Chapel Hill Police Department. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crimestoppers hotline at 919-942-7515. Police said information that leads to any arrest may be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
