Celebrating the final career home game for a trio of talented seniors, the UNC women’s basketball team was phenomenal on Thursday night at Carmichael Arena–delivering an 84-59 win over Georgia Tech.

All three seniors scored in double figures to help guide the Tar Heels (12-9, 7-9 ACC) to their fourth win in their last five games. Stephanie Watts led that group with 14 points, while Petra Holešínská added 13 and Janelle Bailey chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Point guard Deja Kelly–the reigning ACC Freshman of the Week–made sure the seniors weren’t going to go out on a losing note, continuing her stellar run of play with a team-high 22 points and four assists.

As a team, the Tar Heels shot 52 percent from the floor while holding Georgia Tech to a 39 percent mark on the other end.

After ending the first quarter with a slim, three-point lead, UNC outscored the Yellow Jackets 29-10 in the second quarter and would stay ahead for the rest of the game.

“It’s great when you play well at home, it’s great when you shoot well,” UNC head coach Courtney Banghart said afterwards. “We knew we had to play on both ends to beat a good team and the kids were really focused. On Senior Night, to get a big win, it doesn’t get much better than that.”
