A five-vehicle crash in Chapel Hill sent two people to the hospital on Saturday evening and caused a temporary road closure of a busy intersection.

Chapel Hill Police shared an alert at 6:20 p.m. saying its offers were responding to a crash at the Fordham Boulevard and Old Mason Farm Road intersection. Later, a spokesperson for the police department confirmed to Chapelboro that five vehicles were involved in the collision.

Two people with serious injuries from the crash were transported to UNC Hospitals, according to Chapel Hill Police.

At the time of the initial alert to the community, Chapel Hill Police said first responders closed all northbound lanes of Fordham Boulevard and all but one southbound lane. As of 7:30 p.m., all lanes of Fordham Boulevard had reopened.

Chapel Hill Police said the crash remains under investigation on Saturday night, and no other information is being made publicly available as it continues.
