Maple View Farm Ice Cream co-founder Bob Nutter has died.
“Farmer Bob” as he was lovingly called died on Friday, his obituary said.
The Nutter family moved its farming operation from Maine to Hillsborough in 1963 and has grown into a local staple with Maple View Farm Ice Cream.
Maple View was named Farm of the Year by the North Carolina State Grange in 2011 and Farmer Bob was inducted into the Chapel Hill – Carrboro Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame in 2015.
A celebration of life service is planned for April 6 at New Hope Presbyterian Church. The family greeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the celebration will be held at 3 p.m., according to the obituary.
The family is requesting donations in lieu of flowers. Donations can be made to either Hospice, 914, Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, or the Triangle Community Foundation, 800 Park Offices Drive, Suite 201, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709.
Nutter was 90 years old.
