Chapel Hill Transit is set to begin its new routes and schedules for buses starting Monday, August 3.
The transit system has been running on reduced operations since March in an effort to protect public health amid the coronavirus public health crisis. But soon, it will implement its Short Range Transit Plan, a years-long plan to improve service based on community feedback. The changes include the elimination of six routes, while other routes have been expanded or simplified.
While the updated routes will be running starting in August, COVID-19’s presence will still prevent the full implementation of Chapel Hill Transit’s service changes. The system shared a reduced version of its regular weekday service that it will run due to the ongoing pandemic. They include:
