With the UNC campus now on its spring break, Chapel Hill Transit announced plans to shift its service over the next week.
Through Saturday, March 19, there will be fewer trips of bus routes typically used by UNC students and others commuting to the Chapel Hill campus. The transit system said seven evening trips of the NU route from the RR parking lot on Estes Drive will not run. All of the route’s typical runs starting after 6:30 p.m. will not be conducted during the break.
The Safe Ride routes, which are funded by the UNC Student Government meant to improve the safety of students during late night hours, will also not run for several days. Chapel Hill Transit said no Safe Ride routes were available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 10-12) to begin spring break and will also not be available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 17-19) to end the break.
All other Chapel Hill Transit bus routes and frequency is not expected to be impacted.
