Another sign of our slow, halting return to normalcy: Chapel Hill Transit has restored more trips on three routes that had seen service cut due to COVID-related staff shortages.
On Monday, Chapel Hill Transit added two more morning trips on the A route, four morning trips on the HS route, and three midday trips on the N route.
CHT began cutting routes in the fall in response to a severe shortage of bus operators; more recently, though, officials have been able to restore some of that service.
Here’s the full list of scheduling updates from Chapel Hill Transit:
- Effective Monday, February 28, the A route (connecting Northside, downtown Chapel Hill, UNC, and University Place) will begin running two additional trips, departing from Weiner & Severin Streets at 9:45 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.
- The HS route (connecting Rogers Road, the Seymour Center, the MLK/Columbia corridor and Smith Level Road) will begin running four additional trips, departing from Morris Grove Elementary School at 9:00, 9:35, 10:10, and 10:45 a.m.
- The N route (connecting Estes Drive, downtown Chapel Hill, UNC, and Meadowmont) will begin running three additional trips, departing from Estes Park Apartments at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 pm., and 1:30 p.m.
