Along with many other local government services, Chapel Hill Transit will be altering its schedules at the end of 2021 due to the winter holidays.
The fare-free transit system announced its plans for operations beginning on Friday, December 24. Buses typically part of the Sunday Service will operate on Friday before Chapel Hill Transit takes the entirety of Saturday, December 25, off for Christmas.
Sunday Service routes will then continue on Sunday, December 26, as well as Monday, December 27.
Most of Chapel Hill Transit’s regular services will return for December 28 through December 30, although some routes will not operate. The CCX, FCX and JFX routes will not run for those three days.
Additionally, some Chapel Hill Transit routes have not been running since December 12 due to the UNC winter break. The U route will continue to only operate on weekdays, while the NU route operates until 7 p.m. Safe Ride routes offered by the transit system will not return until January 10, when the winter break ends.
The EZ Rider service will also be closed on the days Chapel Hill Transit is not operating and will additionally be closed on Thursday, December 23 and Thursday, December 30. On the Friday, it will operate on Sunday Service from 8:15 a.m. until 6:52 p.m.
