The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners officially approved the purchase of property at 205 JA Farrell Street Monday, with the end goal being to construct a new Town Hall building on the site. The current Pittsboro Town Hall is located at 287 East Street, Suite 221. That site has served as the Town Hall since January of 2024, when the town moved there from its old location at 635 East Street to accommodate its growing Police Department.
Pittsboro mayor Kyle Shipp told Chapelboro the town has been working on the purchase of the JA Farrell Street property for “quite a while.” He also described the timeline for development of the new site as lasting “three to four years.”
“That will give us a lot of expansion capability,” Shipp said of the future building.
The current building at 205 JA Farrell Street houses a daycare and was formerly a nursing home, according to Shipp. The mayor said the town’s plans involve a total redesign of the property.
“That structure is not something that we’re going to be able to reuse,” he said. “We’re working on plans to redo the site completely.”
