On March 23, Carrboro Town Manager Richard J. White III announced Marie Parker as the town’s newest Assistant Town Manager.
A graduate of Poole College of Management at NC State University, Parker is a member of the International City/County Management Association and has received training in local government management from UNC’s School of Government.
Parker has over 23 years of experience in the public sector. She most recently served as the Executive Director for Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority (CFPTA) in Wilmington. Prior to working at CFPTA, Parker was the General Manager at GoRaleigh.
Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority, who Parker previously worked for, shared its congratulations to Parker in a social media post last week.
Parker has one son and is an involved member of the Wilmington community, serving on several local and statewide committees and boards.
In an interview with 97.9 The Hill, Carrboro Mayor Damon Seils said having someone with executive experience will help the town achieve their goals, stating Parker “knows how to get things done.”
“We’re really looking forward to having Marie join the town,” said Seils. “As Assistant Town Manager, she brings a lot — over two decades of experience in local government — and seems to have a very strong reputation here in North Carolina in her most recent previous positions.”
Parker will begin her role on June 5 of this year.
“I look forward to joining the Town’s vibrant team,” Parker said. “As a lifelong resident of the Triangle, I am delighted to return to the area and especially to Carrboro, which has an energizing culture and charm, and innovative community vision.”
