The Orange Rural Fire Department has been fighting a structure fire at 1515 Coleman Loop Road, just north of downtown Hillsborough, for more than 48 hours. According to the department, firefighters arrived on the scene late on the night of Saturday, June 22 to find “heavy fire involvement” of the Bootstrap Brands building. The Orange County Tanker Task Force was called in to assist, with crews working throughout Sunday to quell the main blaze and extinguish hot spots.

Firefighters reported portions of the roof had begun to collapse due to the volume of fire. Businesses occupying the building have equipment and stock that is “currently salvageable,” according to the department. The last update, posted on Monday, said the fire is located above the metal roof decking and under the top layer of roofing membrane. Firefighters report the roofing materials continue to smolder and flame up periodically.

The Orange County Rural Fire Department said ten fire agencies in total have responded to 1515 Coleman Loop Road, as well as Orange County Fire Marshals, Orange County EMS, the Orange County Sherriff’s Office, state Office of State Fire Marshal engineers and investigators, State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
