Construction on the new Wegmans location in Chapel Hill is continuing throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

If you’ve driven to Durham in recent weeks, you might have noticed the framework of the store being built along Old Durham Road.

Alongside the store construction, traffic cones have also been set up on nearby roads to prepare for additional traffic calming measures around the store.

The Town of Chapel Hill held a community input session in March about the traffic situation around Wegmans. Some of the measures include installing all-way stop control, speed tables, on-street parking and other devices around the adjacent streets. Other options have been ‘No Through Trucks’ and electronic speed display signs.
