The UNC Police Department alerted the campus community to an investigation of a restroom peeper on Friday afternoon.
An Alert Carolina issued at 3:36 p.m. said police received two reports between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. of a male suspect peeping into a women’s restroom on the third floor of Phillips Hall.
As of the time of the alert, the suspect had not been found. UNC Police described the suspect in the message as a 6-foot-1 Black male with no facial hair and wearing a blue hoodie, gym shorts, a backpack with black straps, and a black baseball cap. The department also shared a photo of the suspect on Twitter, although just said it was in reference to “an investigation at Phillips Hall.”

UNC’s spring semester ended in mid-May, but some students are still on campus for the first summer session of classes or a “Maymester,” which had its final day of class on Friday. Phillips Hall, which primarily holds classes for the mathematics, physics and astronomy departments, is off of Cameron Avenue.
No further information is available from UNC Police as of 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
The Alert Carolina urged anyone with information about the suspect or the incidents at Phillips Hall to call 911 or call UNC Police directly at its non-emergency assistance line: 919-962-8100. Officers are also available in person at the Public Safety Building off Manning Drive and anonymous reports can also be submitted to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC CrimeStoppers website.
