The UNC Police Department is investigating a robbery reported in one of the campus’ residence halls on Tuesday night.

An Alert Carolina message sent to the university community said police received a report around 8 p.m. from a student in Morrison Residence Hall, which is off Paul Hardin Drive and Manning Drive. According to the victim, a woman assaulted and verbally threatened them after entering the student’s dorm room. The incident report filed to UNC Police described the interaction as “taking and searching for money by means of violent intimidation over money dispute.”

The Alert Carolina described the suspect as a Black female with short hair pulled back. She is approximately 5-foot-2 with a medium build and reportedly had three nose piercings, including one nose ring. UNC Police said as of Wednesday afternoon, the suspect had not been identified and it was unknown whether they are a fellow UNC student.

They encouraged people to lock their doors any time you leave your room, and to not give entry to strangers unless you know they live in the residence hall. UNC Police also advised against propping open exterior building doors for any length of time.

The Alert Carolina message anyone with information about Tuesday’s robbery at Morrison Residence Hall is advised to call the UNC Police Department at 919-962-8100.
