Orange County authorities are looking for two suspects after a robbery at an ABC store led to a police chase.
Two suspects entered the ABC store on US 70 near Mebane shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and robbed the store clerk and a customer. The suspects allegedly had handguns and stole the customer’s wallet, the cash register drawer and two bottles of liquor.
A witness followed the suspect’s vehicle as they fled the scene until law enforcement was in the area. The pursuit led into Durham where the suspect’s vehicle collided with a State Highway Patrol cruiser. One suspect fled on foot, according to law enforcement, while the other was able to drive the vehicle from the scene of the crash.
The trooper’s vehicle was too heavily damaged to continue the pursuit, authorities said in a release.
The suspect’s vehicle was described as a gray Chevrolet Malibu.
Authorities described the two suspects as “young, black males believed to have short hair.” Law enforcement officials said the suspects were wearing black hoodies, dark pants, sunglasses, gloves and ski masks.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigator Jeff Ray at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 245-2975.
