A Durham landscaping business reported a theft to investigators around July 24, saying a variety of equipment and tools were stolen. Now, more than a month later, the business and local law enforcement are turning to the public for help in finding answers.

A release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the owner of Nazo Landscaping Inc. — located in eastern Orange County with a City of Durham address — is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect. The theft took place at the business, which is off Old Autumnwood Drive and U.S. Highway 70 Business.

According to the sheriff’s office, security footage from the business shows a man cutting the chain link fence at the property and entering a storage building. From there, he stole equipment like a generator, chainsaws, backpack blowers, a hedge trimmer, a concrete saw, and loaded the tools into a single-cab Chevrolet Silverado U-Haul before leaving. The investigation into the theft also revealed the same suspect broke into a nearby business in Durham County earlier on July 24.

The security footage shows a suspect wearing a black hoodie, camouflage pants, and dark shoes, say investigators, who shared a pair of photos to help the public. The man’s face is partially covered by a surgical mask in the pictures.

Anyone who recognizes the person pictured or has any additional information about the theft is encouraged to contact Investigator J. Nazworth with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 919-245-2960.
