After a search for several hours on Tuesday, Orange County authorities captured a Hillsborough woman suspected in a string of armed robberies across the community.

Several Orange County law enforcement agencies said Tuesday afternoon they were searching for 38-year-old Alicia Inez Moles. Chapel Hill Police sought her for threatening a driver at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM, while Hillsborough Police took out similar charges on Moles for an armed robbery just hours earlier.

Chapel Hill Police said Moles’ theft from an ATM at 851 Willow Drive happened after she used a firearm to threaten a person at 5454 New Hope Commons Drive in Durham around 6 p.m. After taking the withdrawn cash in Chapel Hill, Moles reportedly left the scene.

Chapel Hill Police said the victim was able to call for help and was not physically injured. The department since charged Moles with Second Degree Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, and Assault by Pointing a Gun.

Hillsborough Police sought Moles after an alleged armed robbery at a State Employees Credit Union around 6 a.m. on Monday. Investigators say Moles approached a customer of a nearby gas station asking for a ride. Once the victim let her into his vehicle, Moles brought out her firearm and forced them to drive to the credit union located at 2313 Old N.C. 86.

Hillsborough Police’s warrants were for armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon. Additional charges are possible, according to the police department.

According to the Chapel Hill Police Department, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office ultimately made the arrest of Moles.
