A Hillsborough resident reported being robbed at gunpoint in their driveway during the early morning hours on Saturday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived onto the scene of the robbery in the 3900 block of Old NC 86 in Hillsborough and made contact with the victim, who said they were robbed after arriving home from work around 4:31 a.m. The victim reported being approached by a person in their driveway before being held at gunpoint and ordered to give over all of the money they had on them. According to the incident report filed to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the weapon used was a handgun.

The attacker, who is described as “an unknown individual,” then left on foot toward Old NC 86 and got into a dark-colored sedan parked not far from the edge of the victim’s property. The victim then reported the driver used the vehicle to flee south on the road.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim reported their purse containing $1,200 cash, as well as multiple credit cards and cell phone, among the stolen items.

The Orange County investigators of in the incident said no further information is available at this time, but the case remains open for investigation.
