The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating thieves who broke into Surety Storage in Hillsborough twice in the last month. Surety Storage is located at 2707 NC-86 South.

The office shared photos of the thieves’ vehicle, an older model (2004-07) gray Mercedes-Benz E350 with black rims, a fictitious North Carolina tag, a red sticker on the bottom left side of the rear window a “thin blue line” sticker directly under the license plate, and a black “Jesus fish” symbol to the right of the Mercedes logo.

According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle entered Surety Storage’s lot on April 24 and again on May 16. The driver is described as white and six feet tall, while the woman with him is described as white and about five-foot-seven. At the time of the May incident, both were described as wearing black T-shirts, blue jean shorts and black footwear. The man was wearing a red ballcap.

Surety Storage and the sheriff’s office report the suspects stole from approximately 15 units within the facility.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has information about the thefts to call Investigator K. Goodwin at 919-245-2905.
