Authorities in North Carolina say they anticipate charging a 34-year-old woman with first-degree murder after a “domestic incident” on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s campus left her 5-year-old son dead.
Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall tells local news outlets that Ebony Oluwasegva will be charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, and possibly more charges. She’s still hospitalized with injuries she suffered in the Sunday attack.
Her husband, 32-year-old Victor Oluwasegva, was injured in the incident but is expected to recover.
The deceased child hasn’t been named.
The violence occurred shortly after midnight in a single-family residence at the Baity Hill family housing community. Authorities said a knife was used as the weapon in the violence.
It is unclear if Ebony Oluwasegva has an attorney.
