A fatal hit-and-run took place yesterday on US 421 in Chatham County.
The victim was Thaj Lamar Singleton, 18, of Siler City. Singleton traveling on his black moped just south of Gilmore Lodge Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene. He was ejected from his scooter and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is an early 2000’s model International Box Truck similar to the one in the image above, possibly white in color. Damage to the right and center of the front bumper is likely.
