A Chapel Hill resident is facing three felony charges in connection to alleged indecent liberties with a child.
Chapel Hill Police arrested Zahkhil Taylor during the early morning hours of Tuesday. A spokesperson for the police department confirmed a warrant was out for the 21-year-old’s arrest in connection to an investigation that began in 2020.
In North Carolina, indecent liberties defendants must be at least 16-years-old when the crime took place and at least five years older than the child victim.
Taylor, who is listed in the report as being a former East Chapel Hill High School student, was taken to the Orange County Detention Center. A local magistrate placed him under a $5,000 secured bond.
Taylor’s first appearance in Orange County District Court on the indecent liberty charges is Tuesday afternoon.
