A shopping center off U.S. 15-501 in northern Pittsboro continues to add business, as the fast-food chicken restaurant Zaxby’s is set to open a new location in the coming days.

A release from the brand said Pittsboro’s first Zaxby’s — located at 28 Harper Lane in the Northwood Landing shopping center — will open its doors to customers on Monday, March 25. The franchise is owned and run by Ben Little, a Raleigh-based entrepreneur who is the franchisee for more than a dozen other Zaxby’s locations.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Zaxby’s to Pittsboro,” Little said in Tuesday’s press release. “It’s impossible to spend any amount of time here and not fall in love with the area. We look forward to being good stewards of the community with our work with Make a Wish of Eastern North Carolina, while serving the best chicken in town.”

The restaurant’s 3,000-square-foot space is on one of the lots in Northwood Landing most visible from U.S. 15-501 and will feature double drive-thru lanes with canopies and digital menu boards. The building was constructed by a Pittsboro-based business — Thomas Construction Company — and employs around 60 people, according to Zaxby’s.

Zaxby’s is one of several businesses that are coming online in Northwood Landing in the last year. The shopping center is located across from the MOSAIC mixed-use development that is part of the Chatham Park community, and shares a road off 15-501 with Northwood High School, whose campus is just to the northwest. Using a Lowe’s Foods grocery store as its anchor, the site also has a locally-owned Hubie’s Car Wash, a FirstHealth of the Carolinas clinic, and the Haw River Animal Hospital. A Dunkin’ franchise is also set to join the business lineup soon, but is not yet open.
