The Chatham Park community in Pittsboro saw its latest business come online in recent days, as the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton hotel officially opened to visitors.
Located in its MOSAIC mixed-use development off U.S. 15-501 and beside its Guild apartment community, the Hampton Inn held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 14 to formally celebrate its opening that happened a few days prior. The 120-room and 78,500 square-foot project, which first broke ground in April 2022, represents a major addition to an area that continues to grow and add business in northern Pittsboro.
Mayor Kyle Shipp was one of several local leaders who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the hotel on Thursday and spoke with 97.9 The Hill ahead of the event.
“I’ve been in a lot of Hampton Inns, and this is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen,” Shipp said, having already been by the building. “It really punches above its weight, so it’s great to have that open.”
Pittsboro has several historical or boutique hotels in its community — but the mayor said the Hampton Inn and Suites represents the first business-class level of hotel in all of Chatham County. The proximity to the major roadways of U.S. 15-501 and Highway 64 make MOSAIC a prime position for the development, which aims to offer more to the community and visitors than just a room to stay in. The hotel features a large meeting space for corporate and community events, and artwork from local artists is not just sprinkled through the building’s décor, but also featured in its art gallery space.
“I’d encourage you to go by and see it,” said Shipp. “There’s a really nice lobby with a bar in it. They’ve done really well with local art all throughout the hotel, and just a lot of really nice features.”
The Hampton Inn’s opening is the latest in MOSAIC, which is just one portion of Chatham Park’s finished, ongoing, and future development in 8,500 acres around downtown Pittsboro. The master-planned community is bringing a mixture of for-sale and for-rent housing units online, as well as businesses and amenities in areas like MOSAIC with the aim of creating a ‘work, live, play’ environment for residents. In addition to the hotel, a pet grooming and treat shop called Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming held a grand opening event earlier in November at MOSAIC — which came after the opening of the Hops and Berry sports bar and new offerings through the 79º West innovation space.
The Malcolm Bryant Corporation, which has a Raleigh office, was the developer for the Pittsboro Hampton Inn and Suites. The hotel is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 324 Freedom Parkway.
