The Orange County government has announced applications for its third round of small business grants will be opening shortly into the new year.
Following high demand for emergency funding and relief during the spring and summer caused by COVID-19, the county government granted 78 local businesses a combined $520,131 dollars. Round three of the Emergency Small Business Grant Program is about to begin, with the county saying applications will become available at noon on Monday, January 4.
These grants are meant to help Orange County-based small businesses experiencing financial challenges from layoffs, mandated shutdowns or operating losses due to measures aiming to protect public health. Started by the county in late March, the program is offering a total $250,000 in this latest round of funding distribution.
To qualify, applicants must be a for-profit business must be open to Orange County and have a minimum operating history of one year with applicable 2019 business privilege licenses. Additionally, applicants must also provide a Profit and Loss statement that indicates profitability prior to the COVID-19 pandemic initially affecting the region in the spring of 2020.
Unlike in its previous round of grants, businesses that have already received coronavirus-related financial assistance from either the local, state or federal government are eligible to apply. That means business owners who have already turned to initiatives like the Paycheck Protection Program, economic injury disaster loans or local programs can still receive additional funding.
Applications for the Orange County Emergency Small Business Grant Program will be available on the county government’s website. Applications and any supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, to be considered.
