Chapel Hill native Loudon Wainwright III is one of six inductees in the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023. He and the other inductees will be enshrined on October 19 at the Mooresville Performing Arts Center.

Wainwright is described by the Hall as a “six-string tragic comedian” and “one of North Carolina’s most original singer-songwriters.” Wainwright has released more than 20 albums and won a Grammy Award, as well as carving out a long acting career which includes credits in “M*A*S*H.” His songs have been recorded by artists such as Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt and Earl Scruggs.

Being inducted along with Wainwright are Bill Curtis, Fetchin Bones, George Beverly Shea, Durham native Betty Davis and Scotty McCreery of “American Idol” fame.

The induction ceremony is open to the public and will feature a live performance from Wainwright. Tickets are on sale for $60 and are available at the Hall of Fame’s website. VIP ticket packages are on sale for $90.
