The Town of Carrboro is looking at several options for how to hold its 23rd Annual Carrboro Music Festival amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Due to the uncertainty resulting from COVID-19 and the challenges that it creates with regards to the advanced planning and logistics associated with large scale events, the format for this year’s Carrboro Music Festival will look different than it has in previous years,” said a release from the town.
The music festival is currently scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 4th. In recent years, the event has annually hosted nearly 200 acts across over 25 stages. This has brought together hundreds of musicians, along with numerous volunteers, support staff, and community partners while drawing thousands of music lovers into downtown Carrboro.
Due to the virus, organizers are reviewing various options, including live broadcasting, live streaming, and pre-recorded performances, which may also offer opportunities for expanded audiences and access for some patrons who may not have otherwise been able to attend.
Applications to perform at the music festival are still being accepted through July 15.
