A third suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the January 18 shooting of Tevin Kendrick in Efland.

A release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Barry Holt was brought to the Orange County Detention Center on a writ from the Durham County Detention Facility.

Holt has been charged with murder.

He is being held under no bond and has a first appearance scheduled in Orange County Court at two o’clock Wednesday.

The investigation is ongoing and officials say additional arrests are anticipated.

Two suspects, Jermauciyae Abram and Savian Jacob Turrentine, were arrested in connection with the shooting last Friday and made their first appearance on Monday.

An additional suspect was implicated during the court proceedings. Assistant District Attorney Jeff Nieman said in court that Turrentine’s charges were connected to an individual identified as Devon Harris. Nieman said that Turrentine, “knowing Devon Harris had committed that felony” provided “false information in a non-custodial interview on 1/27/16 to mislead investigators about his and Devon Harris’ whereabouts on 1/18/2016, stating that he and Devon Harris were at La Quinta Inn & Suites in Durham playing Xbox during the time of Tevin Kendrick’s murder.”

Officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said previously that charges against additional suspects are anticipated as the case progresses but there has been no confirmation from the Sheriff’s Office that Harris is in custody.

Kendrick was found in the parking lot of the Efland Community Center in January with what law enforcement described as numerous gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene by EMS officials.

Abram and Turrentine are due back in court on April 4.
