Hillsborough police arrested a Hillsborough man for an armed robbery at an apartment complex earlier this month.

Jermarise Dejuan Bolden was arrested Monday for an armed robbery at Ashford Lakes Apartments on October 22. Bolden was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, and was placed in Orange County Jail with a secured bond of $25,000.

Police had received a report of an armed robbery at the apartment complex on S Churton St. at about 2:20 P.M. on October 22. Officers who responded to the scene learned that two people were held at gunpoint and robbed of about $1,000 and a cell phone. The victims said they had arranged to meet at the complex to buy two iPhone 7s through the OfferUp cell phone app.

Hillsborough Investigator John Kempf conducted a follow-up investigation, and Bolden was identified as the primary suspect. Kempf says he encourages anyone with additional information to contact him at 919-732-9381, ext. 32.

Hillsborough Police Department officials also said citizens use a public location, such as the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, if making a purchase from a person they don’t know.
