Sophomore guard Paulina Paris will leave the UNC women’s basketball program and enter the transfer portal. Paris made the announcement via social media on Tuesday.

“I will always cherish my memories made in Chapel Hill and can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my life,” Paris said.

Paris appeared in 48 games as a Tar Heel, but hadn’t played since January 14 of this year with an undisclosed injury. Prior to the injury, she had started in seven straight games, during which Carolina went 6-1. Paris averaged 6.2 points per game in her career with UNC.

Several other Tar Heels will have decisions to make about their futures in Chapel Hill this offseason. The four-woman senior class of Deja Kelly, Alyssa Ustby, Ali Zelaya and Anya Poole all have the ability to come back for a fifth and final season. Lexi Donarski, who spent three seasons at Iowa State before transferring to UNC, can also come back for a fifth season or seek other options.

Head coach Courtney Banghart currently has two incoming recruits signed to the Class of 2024: center Blanca Thomas and guard Jordan Zubich. The Tar Heels are also one of three finalists – along with UConn and Duke – for No. 1 overall recruit Sarah Strong.
