Summer resurfacing work along Merritt Mill Road in Carrboro will begin on Tuesday, according to a release from the Town of Carrboro and the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The goal of the project will be to modify the existing street cross section by removing the center turn lane and adding new bike lanes and green pavement markings.
Signal loop installation will begin along Merritt Mill on Tuesday, with lane closures from 9 a.m. to sunset. Work will not occur during Memorial Day weekend and will resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30. During this time, motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles will have access through the work zone. The work area will be specific to the intersections.
Utility adjustments will start on May 30 and run through June 9. Milling and paving will commence after that, with an anticipated date of mid-June. This operation will be intrusive, and the NCDOT will provide message boards to advertise the milling.
