Maintenance crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation are set to temporarily close Corbett Ridge Road in northern Orange County beginning Wednesday, March 4, according to a release.

The closure will allow work crews to safely replace a crossline pipe. It’s scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and the road is expected to reopen to traffic 3 p.m. Friday, March 6. While work is ongoing, a detour will be in place directing motorists around the closure via Atkins Road.

Transportation officials are reminding drivers to plan ahead for construction projects, be alert to crews in the area and to obey all posted traffic signs and detours. Travelers can see real-time information by visiting DriveNC.gov.

The Corbett Ridge Road closure is one of a number of projects currently affecting traffic around Orange County. NCDOT is currently working to install pedestrian infrastructure at three intersections along North Carolina Highway 54, a project that began Feb. 2 and is expected to last through December. Elsewhere, NCDOT has also closed a portion of Millhouse Road in Orange County to repair an Interstate 40 bridge, with work expected to wrap up later in March. Another bridge carrying North Carolina Highway 86 across I-40 is currently being closed nightly for repairs through the end of the week.
