Not long after winning the ACC Offensive Field Hockey Player of the Week award, UNC junior midfielder Malin Evert was recognized Wednesday as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Offensive Player of the Week.
Evert, who was also recently named a member of the All-ACC Second Team, scored four goals in UNC’s win over Liberty last Sunday–including a hat trick in the first 23 minutes of the 6-4 victory.
She currently is tied for the team lead with teammate Ashley Hoffman at nine goals so far this season.
Behind the strength of players like Evert and Hoffman, UNC has compiled a 13-4 record in 2017–and will look to continue that form in this week’s ACC Tournament, which begins Thursday in Louisville.
The No. 5 seed Tar Heels will face off against the No. 4 seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 11 a.m.
