After an uncharacteristic two-year NCAA Tournament drought, the UNC baseball team returned with a bang in 2017.

The ACC Coastal Division champions earned the tournament’s No. 2 overall seed on Selection Monday after posting a record of 47-12 for the season.

As one of the nation’s top 16 seeds, this means the Tar Heels will host their four-team regional at Boshamer Stadium.

No conference has as many regional hosts as the ACC’s five–with No. 7 national seed Louisville, Clemson, Florida State and Wake Forest also staying home for their opening games.

UNC is the top seed in the Chapel Hill region, and was matched up with No. 2 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Davidson.

The Tar Heels are scheduled to open their tournament run on Friday with a game against Davidson, beginning at 6 p.m.
