SuperFun Show: Once Upon a Time presented by Bright Star Touring Theatre

Literature comes to life in this hysterical production bringing to the stage the stories of ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk!’ Lenny and Mable, the comic duo who made Aesop’s Fables such a roaring success (performed last year in the SuperFun Series), are determined to reenact these two classic fairy tales, undertaking more than a dozen roles each. From the character formerly known as Prince Charming, to a giant lumbering high above, this production is a great exploration of the familiar stories.

Local Roots Craft Festival

Celebrate spring and our creative community at this showcase of local talent and artistic expression. Twenty-five vendors will be selling a variety of hand-crafted items including ceramics, jewelry, soaps, clothes, accessories, toys, and housewares.
A dunk tank fundraiser will provide the chance to dunk local politicians and celebrities, while raising money for ArtsCenter scholarship. Come dunk Chapel Hill Chief of Police Chris Blue, Carrboro Farmer’s Market Manager Erin Jobe, Author and Educator Daniel Wallace and other local figures.

Location: The ArtsCenter parking lot, rain location is The Nicholson Gallery & West End Theatre. Event Hours are 11 AM-4 PM. FREE PARKING (3-hour) in the 300 E Main Parking Deck.ADMISSION IS FREE!

The Monti GrandSLAM

Almost Ready Staged Reading

Almost Ready offers audiences a chance to see, for free, a series of simply staged full length plays written by North Carolina writers.

This free series is sponsored by The ArtsCenter of Carrboro and Playground a Theatre Cooperative.

These productions are seen as the last step before deciding what, if anything, needs to be tweaked to make these plays suitable for full production.

The audience will be encouraged to offer comments in post-performance discussions with playwrights, directors, and actors.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase, but no rotten tomatoes.

Annual Community Photography Contest – Call for Submissions

The ArtsCenter announces a call for entries for its 21st Annual Community Photography Contest. Entries will be accepted for the juried show from Monday, April 7 through Monday, April 28, and the selected photos will be on exhibit in our Nicholson Gallery during the month of May. Winners will be announced at the exhibit’s opening on May 9, coinciding with the 2nd Friday ArtWalk. This year’s photo contest judge is Peter Wilkie.

Two photographs may be submitted for each $25 Adult entry fee, or $10 fee for Youth entries (ages 14 and under); or submit one photo for a $15 Adult entry fee. All proceeds from the Community Photography Contest support ArtSchool scholarships, as well as scholarships for ArtsCamp for youth, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the arts.
