After last season’s mid-season showdown between UNC and South Carolina drew over 10,000 fans to the brand new BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, the decision has been made to do it all over again in 2017.

UNC won last year’s game in a 15-0 blowout, which should have South Carolina that much more motivated for the rematch.

Both teams will begin the season ranked among the top 10, according to D1baseball.com, with the Gamecocks at No. 4 and the Tar Heels at No. 9.

Since 2006, the programs have also combined for nine College World Series appearances (six for UNC, three for South Carolina) and a pair of national championships–both of which were won by the Gamecocks (2010 and 2011).
