Charlotte’s BB&T Ballpark will again play host for the annual rivalry game between UNC and South Carolina in both 2018 and 2019, it was announced on Wednesday.

South Carolina will serve as the de facto “home team” when the teams face off on April 3, 2018, while the roles will reverse in the next meeting–which has not yet had a date determined.

The Tar Heels and Gamecocks have faced off at the brand new Uptown stadium in each of the last two seasons, with UNC treating a pair of sell-out crowds to a pair of blowout victories.

In the inaugural edition of the matchup back in 2016, head coach Mike Fox and company defeated South Carolina 15-0. Last season, the Tar Heels delivered a similar knockout punch by winning 20-5.

A combined total of 20,254 fans were in attendance to see those two games at the home of the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.

“We’re extremely pleased to announce the extension of the North Carolina-South Carolina series at BB&T Ballpark for the next two years,” Knights’ Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski said.  “The success, tradition, and fan support of each school and their baseball programs is second to none, and this game has become a signature event in Charlotte.”

UNC is also scheduled to take on the Charlotte 49ers at BB&T Ballpark on March 27th, 2018.
