The honors continue to roll in for UNC junior wing Justin Jackson, who has put forth an outstanding season for the Tar Heels–who are in the midst of their second straight Final Four appearance.

On Tuesday, Jackson was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press–the third group to choose him as a First Team All-American since the end of the regular season.

Voting for the AP’s team takes into account a player’s body of work all the way through the conference tournaments.

The versatile 6-foot-8 swingman previously earned First Team honors from the Sporting News and the National Basketball Coaches Association.

Jackson was also named ACC Player of the Year and ACC First Team, after leading the Tar Heels to a regular season conference championship.

He is currently the Tar Heels’ leading scorer, averaging 18.2 points per game.

A high-percentage of his points have come from beyond the three-point line, as Jackson’s 101 makes from beyond the arc set a new school single-season record–breaking the mark of 95 set by Shammond Williams 20 years ago.

Although Luke Maye has rightfully been the toast of Chapel Hill this week after his game-winning buzzer beater against Kentucky sent UNC to the Final Four, Jackson will likely be the key that decides whether the Tar Heels are able to avenge last season’s loss in the NCAA Championship game.

Jackson is also the only player on the AP’s First Team All-American list to be playing in the Final Four, a list that includes: Kansas guard Frank Mason III, Purdue big man Caleb Swanigan, Villanova forward Josh Hart and UCLA guard Lonzo Ball.

“He’s been the leader of our team on the court, [and] on the stat sheet,” UNC head coach Roy Williams said of Jackson. “I couldn’t be happier for him because he’s really got it the old-fashioned way. He’s worked, he’s put in the sweat.”
