Several local non-profit organizations were awarded $40,000 each on Thursday morning by GlaxoSmithKline for their “outstanding contributions to a healthier Triangle region.”

The grants are GSK IMPACT Awards that were distributed to 10 Triangle organizations. Three of the 10 recipients are based in Chatham and Orange Counties – Charles House Association, Club Nova Community Inc. and Communities in Schools of Chatham County.

“This program shines a light on outstanding nonprofits in our local communities that build the foundation for healthy lives. The GSK IMPACT Award winners are delivering innovative solutions to real health challenges faced by our neighbors across the Triangle region, and we are proud to support their inspiring work,” said GSK US Pharmaceuticals president Jack Bailey.

The other seven recipients are Book Harvest, Family Promise of Wake County, LGBT Center of Raleigh, Rebuilding Together of the Triangle, SEEDS, Student U and The White Oak Foundation.

The awards were presented in partnership with the Triangle Community Foundation, according to a release.

“The $40,000 GSK IMPACT awards give these innovative organizations the opportunity to increase their reach and provide even better services for the community,” said Triangle Community Foundation president and CEO Lori O’Keefe.
