Cameron’s, a longtime Carrboro business, closed earlier this month, but its Shrine Room lives on in a new home.
The business announced that the Shrine Room will now housed at the Sfeer Yoga Studio in Chapel Hill.
This year the Shrine Room turned twenty and now it seems appropriate that it is leaving the nest and has found a home of its own. Its new home will be at Sfeer Yoga Studio off Old 86, just next to a Buddhist Temple. The Sfeer Yoga Studio is located on a homestead owned by Wiene Sharp and Phil Manire and is a perfect setting for the Shrine Room. Majestic peacocks, guinea hens and chickens roam around the property which is highlighted with buddhas and mannequins lounging on a porch.
Cameron’s moved from University Place to 300 East Main Street in Carrboro in 2012. The store had been a staple for finding a unique card or gift for birthdays and holidays.
The current owners took over from store founder Danny Cameron in 2002. Cameron had operated the store since it was opened in 1977.
