This series of posts will be made weekly on Chapelboro to help inform our community about local government meetings. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check town, county, and school district websites for additional information.

It’s a very light week for local government, with only a handful of meetings. One of them is a big one, though: the Chapel Hill Town Council has a work session on the town’s Land Use Management Ordinance, or LUMO for short. Town staff are working to tweak the final draft of a new LUMO, with a final vote scheduled for November.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties:

The Chapel Hill Town Council is holding a work session on the town’s Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO) Wednesday, October 28, at 6 p.m. in Town Hall. Staff have been working to craft a new ordinance, which will be the town’s first entirely new LUMO since 2003 – and they’re nearing the end of the process, with a final vote scheduled for November. The Chatham County Board of Education has a special meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 29, to review and approve School Improvement Plans. Click here for details.

And Durham County Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. Monday, October 26, with a light agenda that includes various appointments to county boards and commissions. Get the full agenda here.
