This week’s Adopt-A-Pets, presented by Houndswood Village, are Penny and Leonard from Independent Animal Rescue!
Here’s what Independent Animal Rescue had to say about Penny and Leonard:
Penny is a beautiful tabby & white kitty. Her grey/brown tabby back, tail and mask is a perfect contrast to her brilliant white nose, chest and underbelly. Her face is rounder than her brother’s.
Once Penny feels comfortable in her space, which takes some time, she is extremely affectionate and craving of human attention. She’s an ultimate lap cat who loves long evening snuggles on the sofa. She has the most tender personality, very gentle and sweetly curious about her human companions. She loves nose to nose kisses and thinks personal space is best shared with others. It took Penny over a week to come out of hiding when she joined her current foster home, so her forever person will need to be kind and patient with her acclimation process on her terms.
Leonard is a handsome tabby & white fella with striking green eyes. His tabby mask is interrupted by a white blaze going up his forehead. One of his front legs is all white, the other all tabby except for white socks. We joke that he hasn’t saved up enough for his 2nd sleeve. His face is a little boxier than his sisters’ – he has stunning cheek bones!
Leonard is an independent guy who enjoys brief moments of human attention, but mostly prefers to watch the happenings of the world from his safe cat tree perch. He loves to bird and squirrel-watch from his window seat, and whatever he sees out there in the dark is very intriguing to him as well! He enjoys brief play sessions with the magic dancer string toy, but is mostly a very chill guy. He likes to sleep under the covers for long afternoon naps!
Both twins (as we call them in their foster home) take some time to acclimate to new spaces, though Leonard is braver and checks things out to report back to his sister. He’s very concerned about her well-being, especially when she’s scared, and will run to her side whenever she needs him – it’s a very sweet bond. Leonard and Penny are both very gentle and polite cats. They are easily startled and will do best in a home that’s not too busy. With a predictable routine and kind people they will flourish!
Penny is extremely bonded to her brother Leonard, and only applicants willing to adopt both will be considered. His much more reserved personality makes them a beautifully balanced duo. They snuggle near one another for long afternoon naps and enjoy climbing the cat tree and looking out the window together. They both enjoy the magic cat dancer string toy for short bursts of play time, but for the most part they are very calm feline friends.
