This week on Adopt-A-Pet, meet Ms. Melba — from Independent Animal Rescue! Here’s what IAR and Ms. Melba’s foster parent had to say:

Ms. Melba is a very affectionate dog! If you want a lap dog, you have come to the right profile. Melba is a people-dog and wants to be with her humans. She loves to be petted, and when she is comfortable with you, she likes to give kisses. Ms. Melba chills hard and plays hard. She enjoys the company of adults and should not be in a home with other pets or with young children, as she can get quite excited.

It would be best for Melba to live in a calmer setting, therefore we will not be looking at candidates who live in a downtown area.

Melba is a smaller and middle-aged dog but she is strong and active! She likes to entertain herself by playing with her toys and looking out the windows to people-watch. She also enjoys playing with rope toys with her foster parents and long walks. She is crate-trained and house-trained, and understands the difference between her toys and our belongings. In her downtime, you can catch her relaxing, sleeping on a soft blanket, or playing with a chew toy. Melba walks well on a leash and benefits from the enforcement of proper leash manners.

She responds well to commands and is fully potty trained. She is a quick learner, very smart, and is very fun to train. She has learned Sit, Stay, Down, No, Crate, Roll over, Spin, and Fetch. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!?

She really isn’t an old dog, though–she’s more like a young dog but with incredible manners!
